T-Mobile (US) has announced that it has sold out of all its first batch of the new “Google Phone” aka the Android G1 Phone. That may not sound that significant, but when you consider that T-Mobile had 1.5 million of the blighters for sale via pre-order you realise how impressive it actually is.
According to early analyst reports, the G1 phone was predicted to account for 4% of the marker share for phone in Q4 2008, however with the latest anouncement from T-Mobile that number has tripled! It’s an amazing start for the G1 – looks like the iPhone may have some serious competition finally. I know myself, as an iPhone owner, am still looking forward to getting my hands on a G1. Whether it can overcome my now obsessive attachment to the iPhone remains to be seen…
