While promoting the release of Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen in the UK yesterday, Shia LaBeouf revealed that Steven Spielberg has worked out the story for Indiana Jones 5. LaBeouf, who starred in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull as the son of Harrison Ford’s whip-wielding adventurer told the BBC that he expects a fifth installment of the franchise soon:
Steven just said that he cracked the story on it and I think they’re gearing that up
So is this good news or bad news? Have Spielberg and Lucas learnt their lesson from Indy 4? Fans don’t want alien artifacts in an Indiana Jones movie, this isn’t the X-Files, give us a traditional Indiana Jones film full of historical mythology NOT science fiction. Perhaps it’s time to hand the reigns to someone else? Indy 4 was so flatly written and directed that the film, even though it was crammed with exciting action, didn’t seem as ‘fun’ as the previous three entries in the franchise…
