OK, so you’ve just gone out and bought the Watchmen: Director’s Cut Blu-ray…
You open the case and take a look inside. Disc one, Check. Disc Two, Check. Disc Three, Check. BD Live Guide, OK. But what’s this? A flyer, for $10 off the Watchmen Blu-ray? But haven’t I just bought that? Am I not holding that in my hand? The answer to that question is a resounding NO!
Yes, that’s right, Warner Bros. are advertising the upcoming Ultimate Collector’s Edition of Watchmen in the Director’s Cut release! Everyone knew it was coming, but no-one knew the specifics. Until now. Thanks to this flyer tucked inside copies of the Watchmen: Director’s Cut Blu-ray, we now know that the Ultimate Edition is coming in December and will span a humongous 5 discs.
The flyer also reveals there will be a new commentary track from director Zack Snyder and Dave Gibbons, 2+ hours of bonus content including Hollis Mason’s Under the Hood, and the complete Watchmen Motion Comics. All this and the inclusion of Tales of the Black Freighter, which will be woven into the Director’s Cut of Watchmen to bring viewers the ultimate Watchmen movie ala the original graphic novel… Check the flyer out below:

How brazen!
Well, I’m certainly glad we knew this was coming beforehand. I hope everyone who cares about the ultimate collection already knew what to expect. It looks sweet.
I’m really torn, though. Do I buy both? What if the
Ultimate collection of the movie actually sucks because of all the extra stuff?
I’m tempted to buy both. Not sure if the film will benefit from the addition of Black Freighter. Worked in the comic but might be distracting on screen…
