At last weekend’s San Diego Comic Con, besides announcing tons of new Marvel content – including two new anime shows, Kevin Feige sat down to with a group of journalists to talk Iron Man 2 and upcoming Marvel projects, including the eagerly awaited The Avengers. According to Collider, who were at the meeting, Feige revealed the proposed final(?) line-up for The Avengers. The film will include appearances by Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Nick Fury and Black Widow. If you add Hawkeye, The Hulk and Hank & Janet Pym, it sounds a lot like the line-up from Marvel’s The Ultimates to me… According to Feige:

I think we know. It’s going to be Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Nick Fury. I think it’s safe to assume that there will be some members of the Hulk universe in the film as well. In terms of the additional, I think Black Widow for sure. SHIELD’s organization for sure. And, again, what’s exciting to me about the Avengers movie are seeing those four characters together and interact with each other. Anywhere from the first issue of the Avengers to Civil War, the dynamic between Steve Rogers and Tony Stark is awesome and fascinating. It brings out sides of the others that won’t be brought out in their own franchises. Throwing Thor into the mix is a whole other thing and I think that will be cool. So to pile in another ten or fifteen…or frankly even four…I think will be too many.

Sadly, due to rights issues we won’t see a New Avengers style movie – Sony own the film rights for Spiderman and Fox own the Wolverine movie rights – but imagine seeing that powerhouse line-up in one movie. Now that would be EPIC!!
