It has just been announced that the UK newest comic con - Thought Bubble, now in it’s third year, will play host to current Batman and Robin artist Frank Quitely. He is set to attend the one day convention on Saturday 21st November, where he will be doing signings and taking part in panel discussions. Plus he is also scheduled to host an art masterclass on Sunday 22nd!
The Scottish artist came to major prominence in December 2004, when he began work illustrating DC’s All Star Superman. That was his first gig following the signing of a two-year exclusive contract with DC Comics, The twelve issue series, a collaboration with fellow Scot, scribe Grant Morrison, began publication in November 2005, and attracted near-unanimous praise. Quitely and Morrison’s work on the series won them the Eisner Award for Best New Series in 2006, with Quitely collecting another nomination for Best Penciller/Inker. The series also won Best Continuing Series in 2007 and 2009. Quitely has continued to draw covers for Vertigo, for series including Bite Club, Books of Magick: Life During Wartime and the American Virgin. More recently he has teamed up again with Morrison on the new Batman and Robin title, the first two issues of which are available now.
