Eidos president Ian Livingstone has confirmed that the iconic Fighting Fantasy books, beginning with the original book Warlock of Firetop Mountain, are to be released as iPhone and iPod Touch games beginning later this year. Speaking on the One Life Left radio show Livingstone said:

I’m happy to say, because of the advances in technology, there’s been recurring interest. Not just from the book publishers… but from iApp people who are saying, ‘Why don’t you put these Fighting Fantasy game books onto an iApp.’ And we thought, ‘Great idea.’ [I'm] quite confident in saying that sometime later on this year there’ll be Fighting Fantasy adventures on [iPhone and iPod Touch].

He also speculates on how the books will play, stating that you’ll be able to shake your iPhone or Ipod Touch to roll dice on the screen. If this is a success, and I’ve no doubt it will be, can other Choose Your Own Adventure titles be far behind?
