With Frightfest selling out, fans clamouring for the latest episodes of True Blood, and emo kids everywhere drooling over the cast of Twilight it would seem that horror is back in vogue; and that’s all good news for the UK’s Zone Horror channel – it has reported its highest ratings month to date.

Daniel Cooper, channel manager at the Chello Zone-owned station, claims movies such as Twilight and Let the Right One In as well as HBO series True Blood has whetted viewers appetites for more vampire and chilling content, helping Zone Horror record its most popular month since its launch in 2004:

Over the last few months, vampire films such as Twilight and Let the Right One In have been seducing the British public and now viewers are rediscovering some of entertainment’s best bloodsucker classics. As a dedicated horror TV channel, Zone Horror is offering viewers the spine-chilling entertainment they are looking for and the channel’s ratings success this year shows no signs of abating.

In July, Zone Horror outperformed Sky Movies’ genre rival Sci-fi/Horror by 50% across the month as well as channels including Sky Comedy, Sky Family and Turner Classic Movies. The channel, available in Sky, Virgin and Freesat homes, ranked fourth overall amongst movie channels in primetime – only surpassed by Film4, Sky Movies Premiere and Sky Action/Thriller. Zone Horror, combined with time-shift channel Zone Horrror+1, reaches an average of 2.7m viewers a month.
