
LEGO have launched a series of online comic books featuring the character R2-D2 to celebrate the tenth anniversary of its Star Wars line. The digitally-distributed stories, can be read via the Lego Star Wars website. a series of five-minute shorts also created by LEGO, called The Quest For R2-D2, will also air on Cartoon Network. Michael Pratt, senior brand manager of Lego Systems, speacking about the move into comics and the the fact it’s the 10th anniversary, said:
To commemorate the tenth anniversary of Lego Star Wars, we’ve created an engaging programme for fans of any age that delivers the best of the Star Wars franchise with the humour, versatility and fun of the Lego brand. Each mini-movie we have created and premiered on Cartoon Network has become a mini blockbuster, so we’re thrilled to add a new layer of engagement to the event with a series of online comics to tease the story and drive excitement for the premiere.
