Samurai Princess

Directed by Kengo Kaji (co-writer of Tokyo Gore Police), featuring special effects produced by director and FX wizard Yoshihiro Mishimura (Tokyo Gore Police; Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl) and starring adult video star Aino Kishi, the erotic-gore action movie Samurai Princess is the latest to join the ranks of Tokyo Gore Police, The Machine Girl and Meatball Machine at the forefront of the new wave of Japanese extreme cinema.

The setting is an alternative universe version of feudal Japan, where a pair of human-android hybrids is on the rampage raping, torturing and dismembering young women in the name of “art”. Left for dead following an attack by the killers in which eleven of her friends where subjected to unspeakable horrors before being hacked to pieces, one young girl manages to survive. With the help of a sympathetic nun and the scientist responsible for creating the original monsters, she is reborn as a hybrid herself, a self-proclaimed devil princess reassembled from the souls and the remains of her dead sisters.

Out to avenge the murders, the superhuman Samurai Princess is joined in her quest by a human partner armed with a devastating, sonic wave-producing electric guitar capable of repelling and destroying anything in its path. Together, they embark on a trail of bloody devastation, searching for vengeance and redemption.

For dedicated gorehounds and fans of the truly bizarre, Samurai Princess really does have it all, from graphic dismemberment, geysers of blood and brain mashing to breast grenades, power tool appendages and rocket powered limbs. The key word here, though, is “gore”. One of the bloodiest examples of its genre to date, this is one film that delivers in spades.

Samurai Princess will be released on DVD (RRP £14.99) by 4Digital Asia on 2nd November 2009.
