One of the UK’s newest comic conventions, Thought Bubble, is just around the corner and this year’s event looks set to be the biggest yet. Only in it’s third year, Thought Bubble is well on the way to becoming the UK’s premier comic con.

You know you have something special when acclaimed comic artists call and ask to be part of your event , even if that means travelling all the way from the US – step forward Alex Maleev, who apparently enjoyed himself so much last year that he called and asked to come back again this year! Even Mark Millar (writer/creator of Wanted and Kick-Ass) called Thought Bubble “the best con in the world” after he attended last years event.

The third annual Thought Bubble will take place this year from the 19th – 22nd November at a variety of venues across Leeds. The festival celebrates comic books, manga, anime and graphic novels in all their different guises, including everything from superheroes to independent small-press, and aims (and succeeds) to cater to both long-time comic book fans as well as those who have never picked up a graphic novel before.

The real core of Thought Bubble is the one-day convention held at Saviles Hall on Saturday 21st November, which allows fans to mingle and meet some of their favourite comic book writers and artists for sketching and signing sessions, and also browse a huge selection of memorabilia on sale – provided by some of the best exhibitors and dealers from across the country – all of which spans over 180 display tables. This year the convention will also include live art installations, portfolio critiques (from Marvel’s Steve Wacker), panel discussions and masterclasses.

On Sunday 22nd November a whole day of FREE Masterclasses and Workshops for children and adults will be taking place at Leeds Central Library and The Carriageworks. The workshops this year are run by a whole host of comic and art industry professionals including, Peter Doherty, Andy Diggle, Emma Vieceli and Yishan Li – the event organisers have even managed to wangle a masterclass featuring comics legend Frank Quitely(!), which could prove to be one of the highlights of this years Thought Bubble.

You can check out the full list of attending comic creators and get details on the workshops and all the other events surrounding Thought Bubble at the official website: www.thoughtbubblefestival.com

Entry to Thought Bubble is priced at £8 and under 12’s get in free and cosplayers get in half price. Tickets are available at Travelling Man Comic Shop Leeds and City Centre Box office on Millennium Square or call 0113 2243801.
