Sony confirm Facebook coming to the PS3

Sony has confirmed that a Facebook application will soon be made available on the PS3.

Yesterday, gaming blog Scrawl posted screen grabs taken from the PlayStation website which showed a sanctioned Facebook link on the PlayStation Network. Sony quickly took the images down, claiming that they were posted in error. However, the firm’s UK PR office has since told Eurogamer that more information on the Facebook service will be released “very shortly”.

Sony are not the only ones to be bringing social media to consoles, Microsoft are set to add Last.fm, Twitter and Facebook applications to Xbox Live as part of the next service update this autumn. Meanwhile PS3 game Uncharted 2 already gives you the ability to update your Twitter feed with your progress…
