This year’s Thought Bubble opened a mere hour ago and already it looks like it’s going to be another fantastci event. The main convention floor at Savilles Hall is packed with guests, retailers and attendees – the sheer number of people already in attendance looks to have outnumbered last year opening and as I sit here in the entrance way yet more people keep pouring in!

I’ve already seen a few guests, talked to a few indie comic creators and scoped out all the comic goodies for sale in the hall. No damage to the wallet so far, but by the end of the day, who knows?

So what is there to look forward to today besides the guests? Well first up for me is the Comics to Digital panel featuring a bevy of writers and artists whose work has made it to the big (and not so big) screen: Andy Diggle, Paul Cornell, Adi Granov, Mike Carey and Jock – if here gets here on time. According to his Twitter feed he’s apparently stuck on a plane in Manchester!

I’ll be following that up with the Do Zombies Read Comic Books? panel, which looks at the rise in popularity of the horror genre in comics. Guests Charlie Adlard, Ben Templesmith, Antony Johnston and Sean Philips will be offering their opinions and thoughts on the subject.

Hopefully, laptop power permitting, I’ll be keeping you updated on Thought Bubble 2009 as it happens. And if you’re not in attendance, why not check out Twitter, where myself among TONS of others are tweeting live from the event throughout the day. The hashtag to search for is #TB09.
