At the end of last weeks airing of FlashForward on ABC the network announced that the series would be going on hiatus until March 2010 – rather than the original January return. At the time THR reported that the show was moved so that it wouldn’t clash with the Winter Olympics… But was that the ONLY reason?
On his blog writer Robert J. Sawyer, author of the original book that was the basis of the show, offers his thoughts on the hiatus and breaks down the original airdate plan and the new schedule. What’s interesting to note is that episode 19 of FlashForward now airs on the all important April 29th, and that same episode is written by Robert J. Sawyer the creator of the original story and, to quote Sawyer:
…because of some calendar dates we want to reference in-story… the episode I’m writing has been moved from #17 to #19.
So, they want reference a calendar date in-story, the original author is writing the episode, and it airs April 29th – THE pivotal date in the FlashForward calendar… The hiatus is making a lot more sense now don’t you think?
