According to a report on Chud, it looks like Fox could be hiring Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the writers of Zombieland, to script the big-screen adventures of Marvel’s merc with a mouth, Deadpool. However they do stress it’s merely rumour at this point… No matter how credible the source.

The long-gestating Deadpool flick already has a strong supporter in actor Ryan Reynolds, whose love of the character is just what is needed to keep this film on track – rather than it becoming the abomination that X-Men Origins: Wolverine made the character.

But if the rumour that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick could possibly be behind the script turns out to be true it would make for even more re-assuring news. You can see shades of Deadpool’s fourth wall breaking schtick in their movie Zombieland, plus that film’s mix of comedy and action is perfect for a big-screen Deadpool outing.

Here’s hoping the rumours turn out to be true…
