The most pirated movies of 2009 are…

Posted on December 25, 2009 in: Movies, Tech

THR have broke down the Top Ten most pirated movies of 2009 and despite all the furore surrounding X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the film only just made the cut! According to the list compiled by TorrentFreak, Paramount’s reboot of the Star Trek franchise was THE most pirated movie of the past year.

According to the data provided, Star Trek was downloaded nearly 11 million times this past year, just edging past Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in total downloads. What isn’t and can’t be specified by the data is whether people viewed a pirate version of a film WITHOUT seeing it in the cinema, or if they saw the flick on the big-screen and then downloaded a version to re-watch later. Below is the most downloaded Top Ten in full:

You have to wonder about the validity of data such as this, especially as this list places RocknRolla, State of Play and Knowing in the Top Ten – who the hell would want to pirate those!?!

Keeping up with all of your favorite movies, games, and comics can get real expensive. You could consider using a cash advance to help.
