So 2009 hasn’t been that great in terms of video games – yes there have been some shining lights amongst the carbon-copy FPS’s and third person shooters, but they were few and far between in my opinion. However there were just enough good games this year to scrape together a Top Ten of the year list.
Be aware – this list is VERY subjective. Whilst there are many games out there that you feel may deserve a spot in the Top 10 of the year, this is a list of my favourite games of the year – the one’s that I kept coming back to play over and over, or the ones I just couldn’t put down!

4. Band Hero
5. New Super Mario Bros. Wii
6. Scribblenauts
7. X-Men Origins: Wolverine
8. Dead Space: Extraction
9. Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard
10. Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles
Yes that is Eat Lead in the number 9 slot – I think I was one of the few who actually loved that game, from its 80’s stylings to the incredible voice acting from Neil Patrick Harris and Will Arnett. Uncharted 2 is deservedly in the top slot of my Top 10 games of the year, it is the FIRST game that has engrossed me so much that I’ve sat through the cut scenes – all of them! Here’s hoping 2010 brings more quality games along the lines of Uncharted 2 and Batman…
