Whilst many derided Stephen Sommer’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra upon it’s release, I absolutely LOVED the film – I might be in the minority, but for me it was like watching a live-action cartoon and it was great seeing all those familiar characters brought to life in another big-screen outing (the first being G.I. Joe: The Movie back in 1987).
So when Collider reported yesterday that a sequel to this summer’s blockbuster G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra was on the way and that a writer had been hired to pen the script, I got really excited, but what followed in a later update to the story, courtesy of IESB, REALLY made me excited about a possible sequel.
According to IESB, the writing duo behind Zombieland – Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick – have signed on the dotted line to pen the script for G.I. Joe 2 for Paramount! This follows the recent news that the pair have also agreed to pen the Deadpool movie for Fox.
No other news is forthcoming, but you can guarantee I’m going to be keeping on top of this one…
