THR are reporting that Adriana Barraza, the oscar-nominated star of Babel, is in negotiations to join the cast of Marvel Studios’ Thor. Details are scarce, but apparently Barraza will play one of the ‘human’ cast in the film, which follows:
…the god of thunder Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions re-ignite an ancient war. As punishment, Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans. Once here, he learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends dark forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
Barraza joins an ever-expanding cast which already includes Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Rene Russo, Anthony Hopkins, Jaimie Alexander, Colm Feore, Samuel L. Jackson, Stellan Skarsgard, Stuart Townsend, Ray Stevenson, Tadanobu Asano, Idris Elba and Kat Dennings.
In other Thor news, following the production woes of Sony’s Spider-Man 4, the release date for Thor has shifted forward a couple of weeks, from May 20th 2011, to May 6th.
