According to TV Guide, US network Fox is planning a cross-show promotion for the return of breakout hit Glee, which won the award for “Favorite New TV Comedy” at this year’s People’s Choice Awards, when it returns to US screens this Spring.
Glee stars Matthew Morrison (Will), Lea Michele (Rachel), Cory Monteith (Finn) and Chris Colfer (Kurt) are getting the animated treatment for an appearance in Family Guy spin-off The Cleveland Show. The Glee cast make little more than a cameo with each of the characters quipping a line of dialogue typical of their characters’ personalities:
Rachel, for instance, merely hits a high note. “All Kurt says is ‘Marc Jacobs’ and ‘Broadway’, because that’s all Kurt knows,’” says Chris, while Cory tells me his character’s only quip is: “Girls and football…but dancing?”
TV Guide are also ruminating that Fox series Bones may also feature a musical themed murder in honour of the return of Glee on April 13th.
I don’t know anyone who enjoys watching The Cleveland Show, putting my cynical hat on for a minute, I’d say that this crossover seems more of an attempt to boost ratings for that show rather than celebrate Fox’s hit show Glee… What do you guys think?
