Clark Gregg has joined the cast of Kenneth Branagh’s big-screen adaptation of Marvel’s Thor and is all set to reprise his role as Agent Coulson, who he originally played in 2008’s Iron Man.
If you remember, Agent Coulson was the government agent who hounded Tony Stark in the first Iron Man movie, who later revealed he worked for a US government agency called the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division, (aka S.H.I.E.L.D.). Coulson wasn’t the only S.H.I.E.LD. agent to appear in Iron Man, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), head of S.H.I.E.LD., popped up after the credits for the film.
Clark Gregg is also reprising his role as Agent Coulson in Iron Man 2, so it seems likely that these two S.H.I.E.LD. agents are set to be the thread through which the Avengers come together – meaning that both Gregg and Jackson will also probably make appearances in both The First Avenger: Captain America and The Avengers.
There are also rumours surfacing that Robert Downey Jr. is set to cameo in Thor after he was spotted at the Golden Globe Awards sporting the trademark Tony Stark facial hair…
Iron Man 2 opens May 7th, 2010, Thor opens May 20th, 2011, The First Avenger: Captain America drops July 22nd, 2011 and The Avengers is scheduled to debut May 4th, 2012.
