Tennant-Serkis

According to co-star Simon Pegg, former Doctor Who David Tennant  has been replaced by Gollum actor Andy Serkis in John Landis’ upcoming horror comedy Burke and Hare. Tennant and Serkis previously co-starred in the 2008 drama Einstein and Eddington (from which the picture above is taken)Props to FirstShowing for spotting this one – According to a tweet from actor Simon Pegg:

David Tennant had to drop out of [Burke & Hare] but by sheer glorious serendipity a legend of Middle Earth and Skull Island has come aboard. Welcome AS.

It didn’t take much to decode the “cryptic” message from Pegg. AS obviously refers to Andy Serkis, who’s most famous for his motion capture work: Gollum in the Lord of the Rings films (Middle Earth) and as the title character in King Kong (Skull Island).

There’s been no official word (so far) on the change of line-up for Burke and Hare, and since it was first reported by FirstShowing said tweet has been deleted. Perhaps Pegg jumped the gun on the announcement? However Serkis taking over for David Tennant does make sense given that Tennant is currently involved in shooting the pilot for his prospective new US TV show Rex Is Not Your Lawyer… We’ll just have to wait this one out.

Though official statements listed him as definitely being involved, in every recent interview Tennant noted that it wasn’t set in stone because of several possible schedules regarding “Rex is Not Your Lawyer” if he were asked about Burke & Hare.
