We here at Blogomatic3000 have followed the progress of Neils Arden Oplev’s adaptation of swedish crime novel The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo ever since is was first shown in the UK at last August’s FrightFest. We’ve already brought you the English language trailer and the UK poster (days before it’s “premiere” at Empire Magazine) and now comes a look at the film’s official UK trailer, courtesy of Momentum Pictures.

The film tells the story of journalist Mikael Blomqvist, who is contacted by the industrial leader Henrik Vanger, who wants him to write the history of the Vanger family. The family chronicle is just a cover for the real assignment: to find out about what really happened to 16-year old Harriet Vanger who disappeared without a trace forty years earlier, on September 29th 1966. Mikael who recently been indicted and convicted on counts of slander, feels that he need a break from his job on the Millennium magazine take on the job. He gets help from the young and troubled computer hacker Lisbeth Salander. Together the odd couple starts to dig in the past of the Vanger family and meet a darker and bloodier history than they ever could have imagined.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is set to be released in the UK by Momentum Pictures on March 12th 2010.
