John Romita Jr. joins ‘The Avengers’

Posted on February 1, 2010 in: Comics

A few weeks ago we brought you news that Marvel were set to cancel all their current Avengers titles after the conclusion of the Siege crossover event. What we didn’t tell you at the time was that the end of these titles was also the beginning of the ‘Heroic Age’ for Marvel. This new age of comics means lighter stories, more heroism and less political intrigue and conspiratorial machinations…

As part of this new Heroic Age, Marvel are set to relaunch the Avengers with the original  trio of Captain America, Thor and Iron Man returning to lead the new line up in an all-new comic which will be launched in May. Other than that, information on the new book has been sparse – until now.

Marvel have announced that one of the leading artists in comics today, John Romita Jr. (Kick-Ass), is the man in charge of bringing the new Avengers line-up to life. They have also released the teaser image below, which reveals that this new Avengers will feature Bucky Barnes’ Captain America, not the reborn Steve Rogers – rumours abound that he is set to head up the new S.H.E.I.L.D. once the ‘Heroic Age’ begins…
