The heat hasn’t died down on that other Avatar movie yet, but that’s not stopping the release of the live-action adaptation of Nickelodeon’s highly regarded animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender.
The series features Aang a 12 year-old boy who, as the Avatar – the only one who can wield all four of the elemental groups – is charged with keeping peace in the universe. He must defend the world from the threat of world domination by brutal firebenders, known only as the Fire Nation.
Above is an all-new image from Shyamalan’s big-screen adaptation The Last Airbender, which stars Noah Ringer as Aang, Dev Patel as the evil Prince Zuko, with Nicola Peltz and Jackson Rathbone as Aang’s trusty comrades-in-arms, and hits US cinemas on July 2nd and the UK on August 13th 2010.
