Bill Murray has confirmed that he will appear as a ghost in the forthcoming Ghostbusters sequel, backing up what Sigourney Weaver said during the Avatar press junkets. In an interview with the Mail on Sunday, the actor revealed that he would only return if his character, Peter Venkman, was killed off:
I’ll come back in Ghostbusters 3 only if I get to be a ghost. I said to them, ‘I’ll do it if you kill me off in the first reel’. So now they are going to have me as a ghost in the film.
So that means the whole original gang are back for the new film – almost… Despite news to the contrary, Rick Moranis has not said whether he will return to the franchise. He was one of the few who turned down a voice role in the recent Ghostbusters video game.
