Tonight sees the prestigious (to some people, myself NOT included) 2010 Academy Awards, aka the Oscars, taking place in Hollywood, California; but as is usually the case the more interesting award ceremony took place LAST night, yes I’m talking about the 2010 Golden Raspberry Awards. More commonly known as the Razzies, the awards celebrate the worst in film. From poor storytelling, bad special effects or purely bad acting, the Razzies are the antithesis to the much-overrated Oscars. This year the Razzies also celebrated a decade of bad movies with awards for Worst Picture of the Decade, Worst Actor of the Decade and Worst Actress of the Decade.
In a brilliant turn of events, actress Sandra Bullock turned up to the Razzies to collect her award for Worst Actress and Worst Screen Couple, both for her film All About Steve. What makes the win so much funnier is that Bullock is also up for an Oscar in tonight’s Academy Awards: she’s up for the Best Actress for her role in The Blind Side! The other big “winner” of the night was Michael Bay’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, scooping Worst Screenplay, Worst Director and Worst Film of 2009. The list of “winners” in full:
