Possibly prompted by yesterdays leaked image of The Destroyer, Marvel have released, via Yahoo! Movies, the first image of Chris Hemsworth as Thor.
Sadly Hemsworth is sans helmet and hammer, but you can clearly see his costume – which looks remarkably like the one seen in the most recent run of the comic, which also tallies up to [SPOILER*] the post-credits sequence in Iron Man 2 [/SPOILER].
Thor stars Chris Hemsworth as the titular character, with Tom Hiddleston in the role of Thor’s brother Loki, and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster. Additionally, the studio has cast Academy Award winning actor Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Renee Russo as Frigga, Ray Stevenson as Volstagg, Tadanobu Asano as Hogun, Josh Dallas as Fandral, Jaimie Alexander as Sif, Idris Elba as Heimdall, as well as Colm Feore, Kat Dennings and award-winning actor Stellan Skarsgård (in roles that Marvel seem to be keeping quiet)…
Thor is scheduled for release on May 6th 2011.
