Stargate SG-1 actor Michael Shanks has announced that he has scored a role in Red Riding Hood – the gothic take on the traditional fairy tale ala the traditional Brothers Grimm story, written by David Johnson (Orphan) and directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight). According to Shanks (via the official Michael Shanks website):
Just landed a role in a new feature called Red Riding Hood directed by Catherine Hardwicke, and starring Amanda Seyfried, Gary Oldman and Julie Christie. Will play a character named Adrien Lazar, local affluent blacksmith and father of Henri Lazar (love interest to Amanda’s character). Rehearsals begin in July, and filming starts July 22nd.
Shanks will join Amanda Seyfried, Shiloh Fernandez, Max Irons, Michael Hogan, Julie Christie, Lukas Haas and Gary Oldman in the film which will be released in the US on March 11th 2011.
