Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 3 has rocketed into the history books to become the UK’s highest grossing animated movie of all time taking in a total of £ £51,503,084. In just three weeks since its release, the movie has passed the previous record holder, Shrek 2, with four weeks of summer holidays still to go!
The story and beloved characters continue to entertain fans both at the movies and beyond:
- Combined sales of the Blu-ray and DVDs of Toy Story 1 & 2 in July have seen more than a 600% increase in sales from the previous month, making them the UK’s biggest selling animated catalogue titles for 2010.
- Toy Story 3: The Videogame went straight to #1 on the UK ‘All Formats Chart’ after its first full week of sales.
- Hamleys and Woolworths have predicted that the Jetpack Buzz Lightyear toy will top their Christmas best-sellers.
- Most Disney Stores have sold out of the Lotso Bear Plush toy with more ordered to meet demand for Christmas.
The latest movie in the phenomenal Toy Story franchise continues to generate fantastic business at the box office on its third weekend. 3D makes up a whopping 75% of the total Toy Story 3 box office. The film is on course this week to surpass Pirates of the Caribbean 2 (£52.5 million) to become the Walt Disney Company’s biggest film of all time in the UK.
To celebrate such an astounding achievement, HMV have announced that they are considerably reducing the price of all the DVDs in their Disney range including Toy Story 1 & 2, Up, Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc. Click here to see the full range of DVDs available, with prices starting as low as £2.99.
