Action thriller Contraband, starring Mark Wahlberg, has entered the North American box office at number one taking $24m (£15.7m) in its opening week. Producers Working Title are hoping for similar success when the film is released in UK cinems from March 16th.

Meanwhile independent DVD distributor Havana Films are set to release the superior Reykjavik Rotterdam, the Icelandic film on which Contraband is based, on DVD in the UK on March 5th.
